Does it feel like you and your partner have become roommates? Do you find yourselves arguing most of the time, or have you stopped fighting altogether? With all of your focus on the kids and your work, you realize that your needs are not being met anymore. Lately, you are feeling lonely even when your partner is sitting right beside you. You miss the spark the two of you once had. At this point you have 3 choices:
1. You choose to accept a marriage that you dislike
2. You give up and decide to end the marriage
3. You work to create a marriage that gives you the love and closeness that you are looking for
New Hope For Your Marriage
Wouldn’t it be great to look forward to spending time with your spouse at the end of each work day? And what if you could not only keep your family together, but also provide a model for your kids of what a strong and happy marriage looks like?
I Can Help
I have been a happily married wife of 30 years. With that many years of marriage under my belt, I have seen the good, the bad and the ugly of marriage. I would love to share with you the communication skills that I have learned that have served me well over my 30 years of marriage.
As we work together, I can help you learn to talk about difficult issues in a way that makes your partner less defensive. I can teach you “softening” techniques that will help you to express your needs to your partner in a way that is easier to hear. The three of us will work together to clarify the core issues you are struggling with and the negative cycles you are repeating. You will have a safe and supportive place to work through past hurts that have occurred in the marriage. Research has been done that has found which behaviors are most damaging to marriages and most likely to lead to divorce. I will make sure you know of these findings. We will talk about strategies for calming yourself down in the middle of an argument, so that the argument does not continue to escalate. And we will work on better ways of communicating so that each spouse can feel heard and understood.
Wouldn’t it be great to feel closer to your spouse than you have ever been? I want to help you build a marriage that brings you joy and peace. Let’s create a new relationship that can sustain you through the difficult times that we will all ultimately face.
